About Our Scholars

Morehead-Cain Scholars come from across the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. They are leaders who make outstanding contributions to their communities, each according to his or her own talents and interests.

One Scholar is a competitive unicyclist. Another is one of Glamour magazine's top college women. There is an award-winning filmmaker. One Scholar started a campus record label. There are singers and dancers and artists and actors and writers. Athletes and film fanatics. Advocates and humanitarians. Aspiring lawyers, doctors, teachers, politicians, journalists, and stockbrokers. Experts on the Middle East and Mongolia. During their Summer Enrichment experiences, Scholars help perform surgeries and sometimes even help deliver babies. They bungee-jump, paraglide, and climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. They learn and serve in locations across the globe.

There are currently more than 180 Morehead-Cain Scholars on campus. They devote their time to numerous campus activities and causes. When they have seen a need or had a special interest that was not represented among existing campus organizations, Morehead-Cain Scholars have often founded new ones.
